My work in mechanical sculpture has me laboring primarily in brass, bronze, and aluminum, and until recently I'd been intimidated by steel because it's tougher stuff and harbors its own secret laws of fabrication. With help and encouragement from some of my artist friends, I've developed my skills in it and, along the way, acquired a real love of its understated radiance and raw beauty.
Carbon Steel Radio showcases that beauty in an appliance composed of geometric solids that is a pleasure to engage with. The typewriter-generated labels thoughtfully integrate with the radio's composition and manner.
